FEBRUARY 10-12
I am so excited about this year's IMPACT Weekend! This year's theme will be "Come Near To God" that comes from James 4:8. It says that when we come near to God then He will come near to us. That is what we want...to be near God! Our speaker this year will be the one and only MIKE KEAHBONE and our worship will be led by BRANDON RYCROFT. So, get signed up as soon as you can!!!
I love Christ! I love celebrating the birth of Christ! But sometimes I just don't enjoy the Christmas season. Sounds wierd doesn't it? I even enjoy receiving and giving Christmas presents! Don't you? It is nice to see the expression on people's faces when you give them a gift that they love! It is even fun opening a gift and being thrilled to get something that you have wanted. But I do feel that Christmas has become more about giving and receiving presents instead of focusing of the most priceless and selfless gift that has ever been given. Jesus Christ. He came humbly to this earth as a baby; born in a barn. He came as a gift of love to a sinful world. He was born literally so He could die to rescue us from our sin. To give us the oppourtunity to know the Father. To have forgiveness of our sins. So that we could have the free gift of eternal life. It's free for us but it cost Jesus everything!
My encouragement to myself and to you is to keep the gift of Christ as the focus of your Christmas. To be thankful for the gifts laid under the tree, but to be more thankful for the gift that was laid in a manger.
Merry Christmas,
Chris
